TRANSMISSION AND TRADITION ... ... .... THE WAY U PONTICELLU
"When I sang in Japan, there is ... .. 20 years, I could not put words clear about what I was contacted about this purpose which is mine now, in song and in the transmission ..., "Jacky Micaelli makes a finding that U Ponticellu door in his ethics and practice.
The tradition is not only what existed then and should be retained unchanged. It is a legacy, a legacy to collect, carry, keep and maintain but also grow in the renewing, to build a bridge between past and present: This extends the past, the past lives in this prepares the future and for the future past and present become the past.
Recreates a tradition not treated appropriate to each era is a dead tradition. The transmission is a living tradition: it requires an update, something creative. This contribution will have to respect the spirit of tradition, which spirit is an absolute that transcends time. By appropriating the tradition, its tradition, the disciple took place in a long chain which is a ring from a bunch of before and after him. Traditional music, ie oral, contain a sap coming from the depths of time, only the floor, the sound, so the oral culture, communicate the spiritual essence. It preserves the living, moving from tradition. Initiation through which it transmits requires direct contact from person to person so that the spiritual influence is inseparable from any initiation.
The tradition is first memory, our roots are strong, our center of gravity. What are we without the memory of our origins? The man is condemned to spiritual death if he cut the link of tradition, tradition. The music holds it to his memory. These are the musical traditions, she lives in and through the oral tradition.
The journey of Corsican polyphony and 'STELLA MATUTINA' passes through the Gregorian chant. This one fits the elements and primordial archetypes that underlie all the world music and voice are as much a single 'Song of humanity'. The archaic, positively valued, is not the old or ancient seen as obsolete, far away. It means that in the former is the original, which escaped the destructive influence of time and exists in a perpetual present. The archaic principiel returns at the beginning, eternal, beyond time.
The values of the original, the archaic, are not present at one time than another. They inspire new creations. 'The archaic part of anthropology which aims at a comprehensive understanding of humans' according to Claude Levi Strauss. Each tradition provides to men belonging to that culture, such time, a mirror where they can print out a living reflection of their being essential, because they have in them the imprint of this tradition, and that each tradition is a true image Human eternal. It is tradition within the man, in his spiritual being. This transmission of knowledge is other than the initiation updating knowledge that has to be virtually. The initiation is thus the assumption of the tradition itself, and goes beyond the tradition it transmits. Thus it is of Gregorian chant that launches its deepest roots in the "Song of humanity" and the archetypes of music.
Archaism can be across all roles and masks of appearance because it allows the expression of a primordial tradition:
"The center of the world, that elusive place where traditions are born, where converge or from which everything that is the traditionalité"
Tradition calls to take a new look at modernity as rethinking the values of tradition and the archaic, and legitimate rethinking modernity. The real modern challenge to keep the past in the name of a blind rush forward.
Thus the Gregorian Corsican polyphony takes the melody, pure vocal, singing. The voice outside the body and blast through the lungs reverberates. The singer performs a vital act. The act of singing creates an intimate relationship with the vocal organ through which emotions, affectivity s'extériorisent spontaneously through the sound of a song as simple or as complicated as too full of himself aspires to emerge us. It is not Ego, and we can take the example of riucade or in melismas Corsican polyphony. Jacky Micaelli explained in all its stages it is dangerous to sanitize the practice of this tradition under threat of losing the meaning, the soul, because in the sacred as profane the riucade are often an expression of strong emotions related to the history of this song. We can express the 'pietoso' in grief or sorrow of love lost, but it may also be tired of working hard, animals like humans.
When it modulates its voice, the man emits a sound reflection of his own being.
Corsican polyphony, like all traditional songs, harmonizing voices and body so that the song sounds with full power. It is less singing "beautiful" than singing "true". A traditional singer uses his voice as a means, not an end in itself. It is therefore necessary in the transmission to go through a rediscovery of the traditional vocal, the anchor body of the voice and the spiritual significance of that act.
Sing with her body, means finding a primal force that will become potential music, original core of any melody.
